College Level Examination Program (CLEP) and DANTES Subject Standard Test (DSST)

CLEP is a national program which offers students credit by computer-based examination. This allows students to have the opportunity to obtain recognition for achievement in specific college courses. Students should request their official CLEP exam results directly from the College Board.

DSST exams are a form of assessing prior learning through credit-by-exam. Students may have scores sent to Virginia Tech directly from DSST by contacting DSST at 1-877-471-9860. Virginia Tech’s school code is 5859.

Awarded credit for both exams can be viewed on Hokie SPA under the grades menu. A maximum of 12 hours of CLEP and DSST credit may be awarded.
